Getting to our house from Centraal  Station.

Exit the main building and walk to the left where the trams and buses are.

You can take three different buses and they all pass our house.

  • Blue & White bus (GVB) – N° 35    € 2.80
  • Red bus (ConeXXion) – N° 391, 394    € 2.00

*If you are coming from Schipol Airport then take the train to Centraal Station first. Train tickets are € 4.40 for a single journey.  Time to Amsterdam = 20 – 30 mins, depending if you take the Sprinter Service or the regular one.

 

 

 

From Centraal Station, travel on the bus for about 10 minutes and get off at the 4th stop – ‘Slijperweg’.

Then simply walk 3 mins to the house following  the pavement on the same side of the street you got off the bus from. Please give me a call when you get off the bus so I can wait for you outside on the lawn to make sure you get here in one piece.

Getting Around the City with Tourist Day Cards.

Best deal in Amsterdam!
The GVB day or multiple day card entitles you to unlimited travel around Amsterdam – day and night – on bus, tram and metro, for the number of hours that best suits your plans. For instance, the day card is valid for 24 hours from first check in.

  • With this OV-chipkaart, you must check-in and check-out when boarding or disembarking from a tram, bus, or metro.
  • Be aware that these OV-chipkaarts are only valid for travel on GVB buses, metros and trams within the city area. They are not valid for use on the red buses (ConeXXion) or on your train journey back to Schipol Airport.

 

 

 

 

GVB service is 24hrs. There are two night buses that service our neighbourhood:

  • 363 stops at Slijperweg ~  € 4.00
  • 361 stops at Barkpad ~ € 4.00

 

 

– If you have purchased the GVB day or multiple day travel pass, then you will not have to pay extra money to use the night buses.

 

– Night buses come at one-hour intervals, and takes a longer route around the city first before coming to our house. To get a night bus from the city, please wait at the bustop in front of the big church across from Centraal Station.

 

 

 

 

The GVB day cards are available from:

  • bus driver and tram conductor (only the day card – 24 hours)
  • Ticket Vending Machines at metro stations (all cards available)
  • VVV offices (limited selection)
  • various hotels, camp sites and other organisations (limited selection)
  • GWK (currency exchange) offices in Amsterdam and at Schiphol Airport (limited selection)

 

 

 

 

Alternatively , if you are intending on spending time in museums and indoor attractions … you might want to consider the I Amsterdam Tourist Card.

The I Amsterdam city card is your key to a visit around Amsterdam. This card provides one to three days of unlimited travel with GVB tram, (night) bus, and metro routes (but not with Connexxion, Arriva, or national train) in Amsterdam, free entry to 37 museums and a canal trip.  Renting a Bike

The best way to get around the city of Amsterdam is on a bike. So if you are adventurous and want to explore the city on two wheels, head to one of the MANY MANY tourist bicycle rental shops. There is one conveniently located at Centraal Station and another located at Dam Square.

 

You can rent the bikes for just a few hours or up to several days.

 

Mac Bikes offers tourists with the IAmsterdam card a 25% discount on all bike rentals.
