Japanese Curry Bread カレーパン

These Japanese sure have a wide variety of interesting snacks. This one is called karē pan, a deep-fried snack made of everyday white bread, leftover curry and panko crumbs. Looks good. Tastes great!

Savoury Chilli Cheese & Bacon Bread Pudding

Had a dinner party then got left with a basketful of assorted dinner rolls after. Didn’t want to throw them out so I turned them into a scrumptious new side-dish ~ a savoury chilli cheese and bacon bread pudding. Definitely a good way to prevent wastage of good food.

Fig, Gorgonzola & Honey Thyme Toasts

A beautiful, beautiful appetizer to have on a chilly autumn day. These toasts don’t just look good, but they taste incredible too! I like a full bodied blue, but if that’s not your thing then there are always milder, more tonned-down versions available. These look very elegant but without the hassle in the kitchen.

Savoury Cornbread

Taking a walk down the south side again this week with Savoury Cornbread. Bought some cornmeal for the first time in my life and I instantly had a vision of baking yummy cornbread. The cornmeal was initially bought to dust the surface of my benchtop for making ciabatta … but why have ciabatta, with all the waiting, when you can have instant gratification with this hearty dish instead! Add your favourite herbs and spices to liven up the dish to your liking.

Coffee & Cinnamon Scrolls

Greetings one and all and welcome back to FoodFlurries.com 2012!! To kick off my first blog entry of the year, allow me to present Coffee & Cinnamon Scrolls, an all time Aussie favourite that can be found in almost any Aussie bakery or cafe. Prefect for a decadent breakfast or brunch. This is my first attempt at working with yeast dough. Bit of a hiccup in the beginning but in the end I prevailed!!
