Today I am going to share my “non-recipe” recipe ~ Rock Melon Shooters with Serrano Ham. I call it a non-recipe because there really is no specific recipe for this … I kinda made it up as I went along. But it still tasted really clean and refreshing, and visually it is very appealing.

Mid-week Meals : Cheesy Tuna Bake
Mid-week meals are the hardest to think up, in my opinion. And sometimes when you are just cooking for two it becomes an even bigger challenge. So it’s handy when you have easy comfort food recipes which you can fall back on in times like these. And this dish is so yummy, I could eat it every week and I will not get bored.

Savoury Cornbread
Taking a walk down the south side again this week with Savoury Cornbread. Bought some cornmeal for the first time in my life and I instantly had a vision of baking yummy cornbread. The cornmeal was initially bought to dust the surface of my benchtop for making ciabatta … but why have ciabatta, with all the waiting, when you can have instant gratification with this hearty dish instead! Add your favourite herbs and spices to liven up the dish to your liking.

Coffee & Cinnamon Scrolls
Greetings one and all and welcome back to FoodFlurries.com 2012!! To kick off my first blog entry of the year, allow me to present Coffee & Cinnamon Scrolls, an all time Aussie favourite that can be found in almost any Aussie bakery or cafe. Prefect for a decadent breakfast or brunch. This is my first attempt at working with yeast dough. Bit of a hiccup in the beginning but in the end I prevailed!!

Sesame Prawn Salad
Super quick. Super easy. Full of robust Asian flavours. This cold sesame prawn and noodle salad is an excellent choice to have on a sunny summers day with a glass of white. A versatile salad that can be spiced up or mellowed down to suit your personal taste. I love cold prawns and I simply cannot get enough of this salad.

Essential Snack-a-Doodums : What To Eat When In Amsterdam.
Everytime someone informs me they are coming up to my neck of the woods, the inevitable question soon ensues ~ “What do you recommend we eat when we get there?” And everytime I find myself writing the same email over and over. So I decided to compile it all in one post and hopefully next time someone asks me what to eat in Amsterdam I can simply send them a link.

Winter Warmers : Scalloped Potatoes & Beef Pie
A very cold day, a trip to the local bookstore and a very empty stomach inspired the creation of this dish. For me winter = comfort food and this dish definitely hits the spot.

Carrot & Chickpea Soup
Once again I had too much of one kind of veggie in my fridge, so the best way of getting rid of them was to dump them all into one pot and whip up a batch of creamy soup. Chickpeas were added to thicken the consistancy and to up the protein content. A healthy and delicious meal.
