Tick tock, tick tock. It’s 9 pm and I was starving … yet there was nothing to cook. What do I do? Look for leftovers and turn them into a nutritious vegetarian meal, of course! Aloo gobi can be found on pretty much any menu at an Indian restaurant and there is good reason for it. It is so simple to cook and it is delicious! Have it with rice, roti or, like me, in a tortilla wrap because I could not be bothered making roti from scratch.

Have I mentioned how much I looooove my little pressure cooker? I mean, check it out, I made this delicious 5-spice braised pork belly dish in a fraction of the time it takes to make it the conventional way. Prepare to be amazed by the sheer awesomeness of this dish.

Simple day to day cooking should never feel like a chore. On days where I don’t feel like cooking very much I like to make a quick pasta meal, usually with a tomato base as opposed to the creamy white sauce ones. Here I share a simple rigatoni recipe with a mince beef and mushroom ragu so simple, anyone can do it. You just have to wait an hour for the sauce to cook … but it is well worth it.

What does one do when there is a pot of leftover spicy Asian soup chillin’ in the fridge? The boyfriend is never in the habit of eating leftovers the next day so sometimes I have to get creative and make a seemingly new dish from leftover ingredients. Here is a yummy and healthy curry dish which has a pumpkin base as the gravy, string beans and prawns for texture. Totally yummy!

Hurrah! Cold weather has finally come! I love fall temperatures as this usually means I can start making stews and thick soups for dinner again. Today I made a really simple beef stew, baked it for 4-hours and then topped it with puff pastry ~ that’s dinner sorted for us. This size pie can feed two people for a couple of days or a family of six quite comfortably.

I don’t make too many bread recipes at home, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to. I tend to be a bit cautious with bread because I question my skills and I hate to get things wrong, but with this Annabel Langbein recipe, bread woes seem to be a thing of the past (for now). Beautiful wholemeal bread crammed full of seeds and baked to perfection.

Here is an unusual dish that is native to the people of Iceland. Upon returning from my visit to Iceland I have inevitably fallen in love with this mashed fish and potato dish, and I vowed to recreate it at home. And so here it is … Plokkfiskur, the famous Icelandic staple, made right here in the Netherlands!

Beautiful pear and blue cheese tarts filled with a layer of sticky, sweet and salty bacon + onion jam! Wanted to practice my pastry making skills, so I chose to start off slow by making open faced treats such as this. Pears seem to be out in abundance at the stores now so make full use of them and show them off in your cooking.

Finally, a fish recipe that does not involve salmon! Here I share with you my southeast Asian-style fishcake bites … perfect as an appetizer or for a finger food party. Serve with a sweet chilli dipping sauce and raw pineapple salsa.
