Short road trip into Germany to visit Burg Eltz, a medieval castle on the banks of the Elzbach River. Freezing temps, gorgeous forests and scenery, and the food was to die for. Just be sure to bring your appetite with you for German portions are generous; VERY generous.

My Mediterranean Affair

So my sister comes for a 2 week visit, all the way from Shanghai, and the initial plan was to rent a car to take her round the Netherlands visiting all the wonderful sights and sounds. I even made her a Google Map complete with markers no less! But one night over an Italian dinner spread it was decided we were scrapping the Netherlands grand tour (excuse me??) and heading down to the Med coast instead. So we hopped into our rental the very next morning and headed south.

Switzerland : Lausanne

And using Lausanne as a base we toured the surrounding areas along Lake Geneva : Montreux – Territet – Villenueve, and even made it into France for a day trip. Took in the sights of Gruyeres and visited the famous Gruyeres cheese factory to see how their famous cheese is produced.

Switzerland : Arrival in Geneva.

So here we are in Geneva, en route to Lausanne to see my dear friend Kerry Anne. A very cold day in Geneva with a bit of snow. Missing Doopey, my Bernese Mountain Dog, already. R’s feet started freezing over, coz he refused to buy snow boots before travelling and we were rather rudely introduced to the very expensive Swiss way of life in a very short time. Bienvenue en Suisse!

Essential Snack-a-Doodums : What To Eat When In Amsterdam.

Everytime someone informs me they are coming up to my neck of the woods, the inevitable question soon ensues ~ “What do you recommend we eat when we get there?” And everytime I find myself writing the same email over and over. So I decided to compile it all in one post and hopefully next time someone asks me what to eat in Amsterdam I can simply send them a link.
