Scrumptious! Scrumptious! I don’t know about you, but I loooove everything about black forest … even this cheesecake version. There is no better marriage made in heaven than dark chocolate and cherries. When I stumbled upon this recipe I had to make it; and so should YOU for that matter. A classic flavour presented in a novel way.

Lemon & Raspberry Jelly Cheesecake Slice
This is a lovely no-bake cheesecake I used to have when I was still a child. I have obviously upped the visual aspect of it by making it look fancy but it is otherwise a fairly easy homey recipe to put together. Wonderful flavour combination with a good fresh taste.

Chocolate Mint Cheesecake
This week it’s been all about the no-bake cheesecake, and today I am presenting a chocolate mint variety. Took me a while to get the flavours right on this one.

No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake
There comes a time when baking a dessert is all too much of a hassle. We’ve all been there. So today I have gone the no-bake cheesecake route … and what a treat it was too! This cake is FABULOUS and I strongly recommend it to everyone.

Classic Brownies
Never made brownies for myself before … well I have but never successfully. Here I am using yet another Alton Brown recipe because I figured all his recipes should be fool-proof; after all he is who he is for a reason. I also made a second brownie recipe ~ Peanut Butter Brownies for all those peanut butter lovers.

My First Cake Competition : #5 Comp Day.
This is the finished product. I came up with a 2-tier chocolate cake to enter a cake competition. It was the 40th Anniversary of the American Bookstore here in Amsterdam and I thought it would be good practice to see how I fare. Needless to say I did not win with my entry … I did not even place 2nd or 3rd. Here is what happened …

My First Cake Competition : #4 Icing an Actual Cake
Today I am about to attempt something I have never done before … to ice an actual cake in butter cream frosting. I am going to be drawing on everything I know about cake decorating 101. Dig deep! Big breath in! Gloves on. Spatulas out. Let’s go!

My First Cake Competition : #3 Decoration scheme.
Equipment bought. Cakes made. Now all I’ve got to do is make up my mind on how I want these cakes presented on competition day. As I continue along this journey I am beginning to realize just how much I don’t know about cake decorating, and just how much more complex it is to achieve the perfect cake creation. I have so much yet to learn … and I am learning on the job. It’s HARD!!

My First Cake Competition : #1 The Lead Up.
I am (proudly) announcing that I am to be taking part in my first ever cake competition in 4 weeks time. Feeling very nervous, and a bit daunted but I am determined to make it to at LEAST the top 15 finalist list. Here is an introduction to what the competition is all about and what is expected of its participants. More updates to follow.
