Spaghetti Puttanesca

This is a wonderfully delicious pasta dish, full of briny big flavours. Black kalamata olives, anchovies and caper berries all mixed together with fresh tomatoes and garlic. Simplicity and satisfaction all in one bowl. Not bad for a first attempt either. I enjoyed every mouthful. Mmmm … yummies in my tummies.

Lavender Shortbread Cookies

I love making cookies for gifts because one recipe usually yields LOTS of cookies … and more often than not, one cookie base can be turned into a wide variety of flavours simply by varying the topping. Today I had some leftover cookie dough from a previous recipe and I am turning this one into a sweet lavender shortbread cookie. Perfect for teatime guests and gifts.

Apple Tart with Salted Caramel Drizzle

This tart was inspired by my recent trip to Brittany, France. We went for just a weekend and returned home with quite a few delicious local products, one of them being a jar of St-Malo salted butter caramel. Warm tart, gooey caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream … sounds like perfection to me.

Crispy Pork Belly with Cider Cream Sauce

This dish has been a long time coming, but I had to be absolutely sure I had the technique down pat. Today I am using a Marco Pierre White recipe coz I feel that if his recipe comes out perfect on video, it has to work out for me in my kitchen too, no?

Summer Beet + Chickpea Salad

Beets ~ you either love ’em or you hate ’em. It’s the great Australian divide. Some swear you can never have the perfect Aussie burger without beets. Me? I’m not crazy about beets in my burger, but I don’t mind them brightening up my salad any day. So today I bring you a vibrant summer salad that’s chock full of nutritional goodness … with four main ingredients.

Chicken in Mushroom Cream Sauce

A little something I once ate at a Parisienne bistro ~ chicken simmered in a mushroom cream sauce, served on rice. So quick and simple yet good enough for casual family dinners and fancy home entertainment.

Schnitzels and Castles : German dining and a visit to Burg Eltz, Weirschem.

Short road trip into Germany to visit Burg Eltz, a medieval castle on the banks of the Elzbach River. Freezing temps, gorgeous forests and scenery, and the food was to die for. Just be sure to bring your appetite with you for German portions are generous; VERY generous.
